In his latest novel, "Returning", Pat has combined different elements of storytelling to produce a "great read".
The plot provides a mix of science fiction, history and adventure with a touch of romance - something for everyone!
Well researched, at times quite detailed, Pat uses an unusual concept, and a series of twists and turns, to take us on a moving journey, which finally culminates in a thought provoking, emotional climax.

Returning is not the genre of book that I normally choose to read but because I have read Pat Whitaker's other work, I have a vested interest in this current effort.

I had to struggle to get into the first page or two because of my unfamiliarity with the subject matter and the concept of ****. BUT, as soon as I acclimated myself to what was happening, I was hooked. ****.

This is an gripping story and caused me to attempt to project ahead from beginning to the end. I could not help but think of the possibilities being presented and found myself wanting to write my own version of events. Needless to say, Pat kept me guessing and riveted to the book and brought it to a conclusion that I would never have conjured up.

The book is exciting and interesting on several levels. As Science Fiction, it is great and mind bending. As a Romance, it warms the heart. As a Human Interest, it is challenging and revealing. As Historical Fiction, it is well researched and offers a study of wide ranging possible re-writes and conjectures.

I loved all of it. You need to read it for yourself.

(**** deleted, as it reveals elements of the plot. Click here to read the unedited version. PHW)

A sci-fi thriller constructed around a chain of realistic versions of historical events makes compelling reading. This story will hold your attention until the very end, where a final twist unfolds.

I am in agreement with Ed White and I have only read a bit on-line, yet I am hooked, now in the process of buying it on-line to read uninterrupted. ‘Mindset’ is perfectly titled and does not disappoint in content. I see a movie here.

What a great read, I would recommend this book to any sci/fi reader. I couldn’t put it down until the end, a real page turner. Pat Whitaker has really done his research when it comes to space travel. Great job Pat, look forward to reading more of your titles.
