Antithesis is a departure for me as it is “proper” science-fiction, albeit set in the present and on Earth.
The idea was inspired by the 1950 sci-fi movie “Them!”, as it was so bad I thought I’d try and do something more thoughtful. The book, set in Namibia is intended to hold up a mirror to our species, and the growing dilemma we face as we become more conscious of our place in the cosmos.

Reviews:
“Pat Whitaker’s first book, ANTITHESIS, is a story about an American female entomologist, more specifically, a myrmecologist — one who studies ants. “For me, the best kind of novel is always one which entertains while educating. Striking the right balance between the two is a difficult balancing act: too much information and the book begins to sound too preachy and the story suffers, too little information and the reader can be left feeling uninformed … and the story suffers …. more

Another well researched and highly readable novel.
Pat’s stories have the rare ability to inform and entertain. This book, like his others, is ‘un-put-downable’.
Pat Whitaker is a meticulous researcher with an eye for detail and he tells a fascinating story. Once started, Antithesis is hard to put down until the final page.
A perspective of humanity outweighed by a parallel intelligence, normally thought to be of no significance. Leaves the reader wondering, what if … ? An excellent read.
Rest assured, the hairs on the back of your neck will eventually lie down once you finish this book , but your mind may take a little longer to settle…..
